Abide Learning Co. ("we," "us," "our") provides live online tutoring for K–6 students. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or services, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Parent/guardian contact info: name, email address, phone number.
Student info: first name, grade level, and any learning notes you choose to share so we can tutor effectively.
Booking & payment info: sessions scheduled, credit balances, and order history. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
Account info: authentication identifiers required to sign in to your account.
Lesson audio, transcripts, and notes: only if you agree at booking. See "Lesson recordings" below.
Basic technical info: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) used to keep the site working and secure.

How we use information

To schedule, confirm, and deliver tutoring sessions.
To send transactional messages, booking confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, and receipts, by email and SMS.
To write each lesson's recap for you, from the lesson's audio (only if you agreed at booking).
To process payments and maintain account history.
To respond to questions and provide customer support.
To keep our site secure and improve our services.

Lesson recordings

If you agree when you book, we record the sound of each lesson. We record audio only. Video is never recorded. Here is what happens, step by step:

The audio is recorded in Lisa's web browser during the lesson and saved in our private storage at Cloudflare (Cloudflare R2).
After the lesson, Deepgram, an outside transcription company, turns the audio into a written transcript.
An AI tool reads the transcript and writes draft notes. Lisa reads and edits the notes before anything is sent to you.
Once the transcript is saved, we delete the audio file. If the transcript could not be made, we keep the audio until Lisa tries again or you delete it.
We keep the written transcript and the notes, so Lisa can track your child's progress over time.

You can delete any lesson's transcript and any audio still stored for it yourself, from the "Lesson recordings" part of your account page. The recap we already emailed you stays in your email and your account.

SMS / text messaging

When you opt in on our booking form, we send transactional SMS messages related to your bookings (confirmations, reminders, and updates) to the phone number you provide. Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Opting out of SMS does not cancel your account or scheduled sessions. We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for their marketing.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the service, including:

Stripe, payment processing.
Twilio, SMS delivery.
Resend, email delivery.
Google, calendar invitations and Google Meet video links for sessions.
Supabase, database, authentication, and application hosting infrastructure.
LiveKit, real-time audio, video, and whiteboard connectivity during live tutoring sessions.
Cloudflare, application delivery, hosting, and security, and private storage (Cloudflare R2) for lesson audio until it is deleted.
Deepgram, turning lesson audio into a written transcript.
Lovable, website hosting, including basic measurement of visits to our public pages, and the AI service (using Google's Gemini model) that drafts lesson notes from the transcript.
Google Analytics and Meta, measurement of visits to our public pages and of our advertising (see "Website analytics and advertising" below).

We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Website analytics and advertising

The public pages of our website (such as the home, pricing, and booking pages) use Google Analytics and the Meta pixel to help us understand how visitors find and use the site and to measure our advertising. These tools set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and receive standard technical information, such as the pages you view, your device and browser type, and a general location derived from your IP address. We also send them a record of certain actions, for example that a booking was started or a guide was requested.

These tools do not run in the Abide Live classroom, on the tech check page, or in your parent account. We do not include your child's name, grade, or work in the actions we report to them. You can limit this kind of measurement with your browser's privacy settings or a content blocker, and the site will still work.

Children's privacy

Our service is purchased by parents and guardians for the benefit of their children. Students under 13 do not create their own accounts. We collect a child's information only with the consent of a parent or guardian, which we ask for at booking and save with the date and time.

The child information we hold is limited to what the parent provides and what is needed to deliver tutoring: the student's name and grade, the work they create on the shared whiteboard (saved so the parent and tutor can review progress), and, if the parent agrees, lesson audio, the written transcript made from it, and the lesson notes (see "Lesson recordings" above). Video is never recorded. We do not require a child to disclose more than is reasonably necessary, and we do not sell or use children's information for advertising.

Parents can review and delete their child's saved work, and delete any lesson's transcript and stored audio, at any time from their account dashboard, and may request access, correction, or deletion of any other child information, or withdraw consent, by emailing us, in which case we will stop collecting the child's information and delete what we hold.

Data retention

We retain account and booking records for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. A child's saved whiteboard work is kept until a parent deletes it (self-serve from the account dashboard) or asks us to. Lesson audio is deleted once its written transcript is saved. A lesson's transcript is kept until a parent deletes it (self-serve from the account dashboard) or asks us to. Lesson notes and recaps are kept until a parent asks us to delete them. You may request deletion of your account at any time.

Your choices

Update your account info from your account dashboard.
Delete any lesson's transcript and stored audio from your account dashboard.
Opt out of SMS by replying STOP to any text.
Request access, correction, or deletion of your information by contacting us.
